Swim & Dive Sweep Horizon League Weekly Honors

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Oakland's Swimming and Diving programs had an outstanding week as four Golden Grizzlies earned Horizon League Swimmers and Divers of the Week following their performance at the Miami of Ohio. Freshman Karel Subagyo, graduate student Rhianna Hensler, sophomore Edin DeHooghe, and graduate student Ellie Chalifoux claimed the accolades for the week of November 13-19.

Karel Subagyo – Horizon League Swimmer of the Week (Men's)

Hailing from Jakarta, Indonesia, freshman phenom Karel Subagyo swept his individual events to help propel Oakland in their meet against Miami. Subagyo demonstrated remarkable versatility and endurance, finishing:
1st in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:31.32.
1st in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:36.64.
1st in the 200-yard freestyle with a blazing 1:39.87.

Subagyo's dominant showing solidified his position as a rising star for the Golden Grizzlies. This is his first Horizon League Swimmer of the Week Honor in his career.

Rhianna Hensler – Horizon League Swimmer of the Week (Women's)

Graduate student and Clarkston, Mich. native Rhianna Hensler showcased her leadership and experience by excelling in multiple events:
1st in the 200-yard butterfly with a winning time of 2:05.70.
2nd in the 100-yard butterfly with a strong 56.94.
Contributed a 3rd place finish in the 400-yard medley relay, swimming a key split of 56.53.

Hensler's consistency and competitive edge continue to make her a cornerstone of Oakland's women's program. This is Hensler's first Horizon League Swimmer of the Week honor this season.

Edin DeHooghe – Horizon League Diver of the Week (Men's)

Sophomore Edin DeHooghe of New Baltimore, Mich. delivered strong performances on the boards, securing two podium finishes:
3rd on the 1-meter dive with a score of 264.15.
3rd on the 3-meter dive with a score of 255.83.

DeHooghe's consistent success highlights his growing impact for the Golden Grizzlies. This is DeHooghe's first Horizon League Diver of the Week Honor on the season.

Ellie Chalifoux – Horizon League Diver of the Week (Women's)

Graduate student and Beverly Hills, Mich. native Ellie Chalifoux impressed last week against Miami of Ohio with her skill:
2nd on the 1-meter dive with a score of 266.33.
2nd on the 3-meter dive with a score of 297.98, a near career-best performance.

Chalifoux's contributions continue to set the tone for Oakland's success in diving. This will be Chalifoux's third Horizon League Diver of the Week Honor this season. 

NEXT UP
The Women's Swim and Dive head to Eastern Michigan tomorrow, November 21st, to compete in a dual meet. They will look to Hensler and Chalifoux, as well as other Golden Grizzlies, to secure a win against the Eagles.

The Men's Swim and Dive teams will be back in action with the Women's team at the Toyota U.S. Championships, in Greensboro, N.C. and the Zippy Invite, hosted by Akron. Those competitions are scheduled for December 4-7, and Dec 5-8. respectively.
