First 2023 Prairie Farms Student-Athletes of the Week Announced

ROCHESTER, Mich. – On Monday, Oakland University Athletics announced the first Prairie Farms Student-Athlete of the Week winners as Andrew Darakdjian from men's soccer and Emily Wichmann of volleyball.

Darakdjian posted four shots on goal in Oakland's 2-1 loss to Xavier University on Sunday, scoring the Golden Grizzlies' season-opening goal at the 52' minute mark. The freshman also generated a shot in the squad's 4-0 loss to No. 11 Marshall University in the regular season opener on Thursday.

Helping the Golden Grizzlies pick up their first victory of the 2023 campaign against St. Thomas on Saturday, Wichmann, a junior libero, tallied 61 digs and 21 assists in Oakland's three matches in the Chicago Classic. Beginning with 26 digs against Lindenwood in the Friday season-opener, she followed this up with 25 more in the win over the Tommies, totals that were good enough to earn her a spot on the soon-to-be-released 2023 Chicago Classic All-Tournament Team.
