United Dairy Industry of Michigan and Oakland Announce Partnership + Official Sponsorship of Esports

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland University Athletics and United Dairy Industry of Michigan are pleased to announce a partnership making Milk Means More the official sponsor of Oakland University Esports. The partnership between the two organizations also includes other opportunities to work together to educate OU's student body on the nutritional benefits of dairy products.

"UDIM's sponsorship of OU Esports is an exciting new phase in UDIM's longstanding partnership with OU Athletics," said Oakland Director of Athletics Steve Waterfield, "UDIM's support of Esports fits well because proper nutrition plays the same critical role in competitive success for Esports as it does for all of OU's other varsity sports. Thank you to UDIM for its continued support of OU Athletics."

As the official sponsor of Oakland University Esports, the United Dairy Industry of Michigan will have branded logos on the sleeve of Golden Grizzlies competitors, a live read during events, social media branded posts, and the like.

"We are excited to expand our partnership with the United Dairy Industry of Michigan. Their support has been important for our program and our players love to have chocolate milk before our matches," said Oakland Esports Head Coach Carl Leone.

In addition, milk will be distributed at least two events per year to students on mutually agreed-upon dates. The Esports team will also be privy to a presentation of optimal fueling for performance by the United Dairy Industry of Michigan and have the chance to visit a Michigan farm and participate in a photo and video shoot.

"Milk Means More is proud to partner with Oakland University as the official sponsor of their Esports team. Chocolate milk provides essential nutrients and great benefits for athletes, and we are excited to be able to not only educate and create awareness of the importance of sports nutrition but also supply the nutritious fuel that will help OU's Esports gamers perform their best," said Sarah Woodside, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at the United Dairy Industry of Michigan.

In the 2022-23 spring season, Oakland's Rocket League and Super Smash Bros. squads captured NACE Varsity Premier Star League titles in those respective events.
