ALLENDALE, Mich. – Four school records fell at Grand Valley State University over the weekend by Oakland University Men's and Women's Track & Field at both GVSU Big Meets on Friday and Saturday.
The first three fell on Friday as Terrance Brooks Jr toppled the men's 800m record with a new time of 1:51.75 while Yami Albrecht and Connor Goetz posted the second and third-best Men's Mile times in the Horizon League, stopping watches in 4:11.34 and 4:12.94.
In the field, Alexis Hunter broke the second school record in the women's triple jump with a mark of 11.83m (38'9.75") and Rose Philogene took second in the women's long jump with a distance of 5.70m (18'8.5").
Speaking of distance, Maddi Leigh took the third school record of the first meet in the women's 800m as the system clocked her in at 2:11.44.
On Saturday, the lone men's competitors were the Men's Distance Medley Relay team as the squad of Brooks Jr, Justin Kudera, William Harrell III, and Albrecht placed seventh in the event, posting the best time in the league this year and a new school record of 9:50.57.
Likewise on the women's side, the DMR competed for 15th as Brooke Hinkelman, Peyton Sabourin, Leigh, and Ashley Quinn posted the second-best time in the HL so far this season in 12:05.60.
Jimmie Williams and Marcus Nellman received their rings for their participation in the 2021 NCAA Division I East Preliminaries last season.
