ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland men's and women's swimming and diving team will kick-off the 2021 season as the Golden Grizzlies welcome Grand Valley State Saturday, Jan. 30 at 3 p.m. at the Oakland Aquatic Center. 
 
Saturday's meet marks the first of three home contests this season including Eastern Michigan on the women's side (2/5) and Wayne State (2/13). Oakland's meet against Wayne State will serve as senior day and is scheduled to broadcast on ESPN+/3.
 
Oakland hasn't competed against GVSU since its time spent in the Great Lakes Athletic Conference (GLIAC). Oakland was a member of the GLIAC from 1976-1997.
 
The Golden Grizzlies are coming off their 42nd consecutive conference title on the men's side, and the 26^thtitle on the women's side and return a wealth of experience and depth to this year's roster. 
 
The women won all but one race at last year's Horizon League Championships and return Horizon League Athlete of the Year and Swimmer of the Meet, Susan LaGrand. Emily Aycock took home Freshman of the Year accolades and looks to return to her dominating ways during her sophomore campaign. 
 
After capturing the seventh-straight Horizon League title, the men's squad returns Marko Khotynetskyi, who swept the conference post season awards, earing Athlete of the year, Freshman of the Year and Swimmer of the Meet.
