Marking its commitment to student-athletes and the continued support through this unprecedented season the Golden Grizzlies Champions Club has added ten new members to the Advisory Board.
"The timing of this growth could not have come at a more important time. The Golden Grizzlies student-athletes and coaches, now more than ever need the positive efforts and support the GGCC Advisory Board provides" Vice-Chairman Anthony Gallina said.
The Golden Grizzlies Champions Club Advisory Board assists in all aspects of student-athletes' college experience. The commitment to student-athletes begins at recruitment and extends throughout the student-athlete career and education. The Champions Club fund provides financial resources for scholarships, facility enhancements, and various programs to assist Oakland student-athletes in their quest to become champions in the classroom, community, and in competition.
"I am very happy to welcome the new members to the Golden Grizzlies Champions Club Advisory Board and am grateful they have decided to serve on the Board. Each has a unique and very strong connection to Oakland University and the Athletics Department. In conversations with them, their pride and passion for Oakland Athletics and their commitment to elevating the student-athlete experience in competition, in the classroom, and life were readily apparent," Steve Waterfield, Director of Athletics, said.
"I would like to take the opportunity to thank five individuals who have been with the Advisory Board since its inception a little more than three years ago - Marc Dutton, Mike Miller, Jeff Rogers, John White, and John Leigh. As inaugural members of the Board, they were instrumental in shaping the Board's path forward, and we recognize the significant contributions they made to support our student-athletes! As their terms come to a close, we thank them for their service and wish them well - go Golden Grizzlies!" Chairman Mark Guthrie said.
