ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland University Athletics has named Grant Kelly as Compliance Coordinator, announced by Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance Mari Rakijas on Wednesday. Kelly will assist in the day-to-day compliance matters, monitoring financial aid and ensuring eligibility for student-athletes with NCAA, Horizon League and Oakland University rules.
 
"We are so excited to have Grant join our compliance office," said Rakijas. "Grant brings quality experience that I know will be an asset in promoting an atmosphere of compliance and enhancing the student-athlete experience."
 
Prior to Oakland, Kelly served as a Compliance Intern at Central Michigan where he analyzed prospective student-athlete transcripts, executed initial eligibility calculations, in addition to creating the 2017-18 CMU Athletics Compliance Report. Kelly also revised, distributed and collected forms from all 485 student-athletes across all 16 sports utilizing JumpForward software.
 
Before arriving at CMU, Kelly spent 3.5 years in the United States Air Force stationed in Charleston, South Carolina as a Fuels Journeyman from 2011 until honorably discharged in 2014. While in the Air Force, he prepared safety briefings to educate members about on the job hazards and the unit was awarded the 2012 AMC Distinguished Ground Safety Award. Kelly also performed special duties as a member of the Joint Base Charleston Honor Guard Team where he performed over 100 military funerals honoring fallen veterans and their families, trained fellow guardsmen, all while maintaining other work center qualifications.
 
Kelly earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in Sport Management with a minor in Legal Studies from Central Michigan in 2018.
 
Kelly, a native of Royal Oak, Mich., currently resides in Madison Heights, Mich. with his dog Bud.
