ROCHESTER, Mich. --
LaTasha Tillman has joined the Oakland University Athletics staff as the new dance coach.
With over 20 years of dance experience, Tillman has studied all genres throughout her dance career such as ballet, tap, jazz, Polynesian, Dunham and tumbling. She comes with 18 years studio instruction, plus dance team experience ranging from little league to the collegiate and professional level. Tillman has danced in many companies throughout the Detroit Area and is also currently the Artistic Director at My Dance Studio Inc.
Tillman's previous experience includes being the former coordinator of the Dance & Pom Pon Competition at the yearly Michigan State Fair. She has also judged many dance, cheer and pageant competitions. In 2016, she joined the Camp Pro staff for dancers inspiring to go professional and still contributes at their annual event as a choreographer and guest speaker.
Tillman also spent time being a part of the Detroit Pistons Dance Team, Automotion, and has been a dancer for the likes of Mary J. Blige, Gladys Knight , Brian Freidman and Debbie Gibson. Currently, she continues to rotate to studios to assist with competition choreography, master classes, company auditions, and make-up and hair techniques. Tillman has also judged at the collegiate level for Michigan State, Eastern Michigan, and has provided court choreography for the Eastern Michigan, Lawrence Tech and Saginaw Valley dance teams.
