Dec. 19, 2017 ROCHESTER, Mich. -- The O'rena at Oakland University is about to see a major upgrade to the game day atmosphere and other special events. A new partnership has been announced with ScoreVision to replace the current video board and scoreboards, set to showcased in January. ScoreVision, based out of Omaha, Nebraska is a technology company that brings multimedia and app-driven technologies to athletic facilities around the country.
"We are set to debut the new technology as early as the Jan. 4 and 5 women's and men's basketball games," Director of Athletics, Jeff Konya said. "The real beneficiaries are those that will be in attendance at home games."
As part of the agreement, ScoreVision will provide a new and larger state-of-the art digital LED jumbotron screen in the O'rena, as well as replace all existing corner scoreboards with new LED displays that will allow for enhanced scoring, video, sponsor, and other visually stunning content. Non-athletic events such as University Commencement ceremonies will also see added features and flexibility as well.
"We look forward to implementing ScoreVision's technology into our robust game day atmosphere at the O'rena," said Director of Facilities, Andy Adrianse. "Not only will our fans notice an immediate visual impact in the O'rena, but there are added benefits for our student-athletes, coaches, and operational staff as well. ScoreVision and Oakland have a very like-minded and innovative approach and we're excited to partner with such a cutting edge company on this project."
