ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Oakland will host its annual Mitten Toss during halftime of the men's basketball game against Southern Utah on Saturday, Dec. 3. The game is set for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
Mitten Toss, a longtime tradition of Oakland swimming and diving, encourages fans to bring new or gently used mittens or gloves to be thrown onto the court at halftime. All items donated will go to The Baldwin Center, a nonprofit organization that serves to feed, clothe, educate and empower the Pontiac community. Fans can also purchase mittens from the merchandise stand located at the end of the main hallway in the O'rena for $3 at the game.
The event is a part of Pontiac Night which includes admission for members and leaders of the Pontiac Initiative, an organization that aims at improving college attendance rates among Pontiac students at Oakland, real-world learning opportunities for Oakland students and economic development.
