OAKLAND LEADS HORIZON LEAGUE IN FALL ACADEMIC ALL-LEAGUE TEAMS

INDIANAPOLIS- Honoring student-athletes for their success both in competition and in the classroom, the Horizon League announced its 2015 Fall Academic All-League Teams on Friday. A total of 52 student-athletes from five fall sports were honored in balloting by the league's faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors.

Oakland landed eight selections tied with Detroit for most in the conference. The Golden Grizzlies led all Horizon League volleyball players with three - Amanda Baker, Sammy Condon and Cassie Pelloni. Oakland also tied for most selections in women's soccer with Cecilie Dokka and Jamie Horne making the list as well as men's cross country with Jacob Bowman and George O'Connor being selected. Miranda Haas from women's cross country rounded out Oakland's eight members.

The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Academic All-Horizon League consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale) and have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits.

Women's Cross Country

Miranda Haas| SR | 3.91 | Biology
*Earned All-Horizon League First-Team honors after placing fifth at the Horizon League Championship
*Finished first at the Golden Grizzly Open (Sept. 4) with a personal-best 4K time of 14:53.9
*Placed second at the Golden Grizzly SC Dual vs CMU
*Placed 78th at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional

Men's Cross Country

Jacob Bowman | JR | 3.48 | Environmental Science
*Finished sixth at the Horizon League Championship to earn a place on the All-Horizon League First-Team
*Placed third at the Golden Grizzly SC Dual vs CMU (Oct. 9) with a time of 12:13.1
*Placed first at the Golden Grizzly Open (Sept. 4) with a time of 19:12.7 (6K)
*Won Horizon League Runner of the Week for the week of Aug. 31-Sept. 6

George O'Connor | SR | 3.45 | Communication
*Placed ninth at the Horizon League Championship, earning him a spot on the All-Horizon League Second Team
*Finished fourth at the Golden Grizzly Open (Sept. 4) with a 6K time of 19:32.0
*Finished fourth at the Golden Grizzly SC Dual vs CMU (Oct. 9) with a 4K time of 12:13.2
*Placed 69th at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional match

Women's Soccer

Cecilie Dokka | SO | 3.51 | Pre-Business Administration
*Appeared in all 21 games, making 20 starts
*Scored two goals against Duquesne on Sept. 20
*Recorded assists in back-to-back games against Grand Canyon (Sept. 4) and Northern Arizona (Sept. 6)
*Ranked third on the team in points (11).

Jamie Horne | SR | 3.45 | Health Sciences
* One of two players to start in all 21 games
* 2015 Horizon League All-Tournament team selection
* Scored the game-winning penalty kick against Northern Kentucky (Nov. 5) to send Oakland to the Horizon League Championship game

Volleyball

Amanda Baker | SR | 3.94 | Heath Sciences
*Named to Capital One Academic All-District 5 team for second straight season
*School's career record holder in blocks (403) and block assists (361) and 2nd in career sets played (451)
*Ranked inside the top-5 during Horizon League play in blocks and hitting percentage
*Named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 19

Sammy Condon| SO | 3.64 | Pre-Elementary Education
*All-Horizon League selection for second straight season
*Led team in blocks per set and hitting percentage and was also third in kills per set
*Ranked inside the top-10 during Horizon League play in blocks and hitting percentage
*Named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 21

Cassie Pelloni | SR | 3.22 | Pre-Human Resource Development
*Named to All-Horizon League team for school-record 3rd time
*Ranked in the top-10 in the HL in kills, points and hitting percentage
*Led team for third season with 382 kills and 3.29 kills per set for third-straight season
*Became just the fifth player in school history to surpass 1,000 kills and finished third on Oakland's career kills list with 1,101
