ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Metro Series will kick off this year on Wednesday as the Golden Grizzlies host the University of Detroit Mercy in women's soccer at 7:30 p.m. The #MetroSeries is driven by Trinity Transportation and is awarded to the team that scores the most points in the annual rivalry.

"We are looking forward to our second year in the Metro Series with our friends from the University of Detroit Mercy," said Director of Athletics Jeff Konya. "Our student-athletes did a tremendous job last year winning the inaugural Metro Series, and we look forward to another year of spirited competition."

After trailing 8-4 last season, the Golden Grizzlies outscored the Titans 18-6 through the winter and spring competitions to capture the first title. In an event of a tie this year, Oakland will retain the cup.

Each victory will be worth two points. New to this year's Metro Series scoring system, will be points awarded for postseason victories and softball will be given just two points for the series victory (best-of-3).
