  ROCHESTER, Mich. - Continuing with their department mission to have a lasting impact on their community, the student-athletes and staff of Oakland University were active in multiple projects and activities throughout the area this spring.
March Reading Month - March 13, 18, 25, 26
 Men's and women's basketball players as well as men's and women's golfers traveled to Deerfield Elementary, Auburn Elementary and Graham Elementary schools in the Avondale School District to read to various classrooms and lead different activities to promote reading during the month of March.
Oakland University Day of Service - April 10
 Both student-athletes and athletics department staff members assisted in various projects around campus as part of Oakland University's Day of Service. Activities included making 1,000 lunch packages for homeless families at the Pontiac Grace Centers of Hope as well as cleaning up the Oakland University campus.
 Water to Water - April 12
 Hosted by the men's and women's swimming and diving team for the fourth consecutive year, student-athletes from multiple Golden Grizzlies athletic teams participated in relay swim races at the Oakland Aquatic Center. The event gathered over $1,700 of donations that will go to Thirst Relief International, a humanitarian organization that aims to bring potable water to over one billion people globally.
Team IMPACT - April 18
 The Oakland men's swimming and diving program welcomed Devin Wolbert to the Golden Grizzlies as part of the Team IMPACT program. Devin, an 11-year-old from nearby New Baltimore, Mich. with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS), will participate in many team events and activities over his career with the Golden Grizzlies.
 Burton Academy - April 22
 Director of Athletics Jeff Konya talked with the sixth-grade classes at Burton Academy in Detroit, sharing messages of the importance of having goals, being part of a team, overcoming obstacles and learning from mistakes. Konya also stressed the significance of academics and the roles that teachers and coaches play in helping students.
