THE SOCIAL EVENT OF THE YEAR

Jan. 23, 2015

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland University Athletics cordially invites all fans, friends, staff and alumni to the Royal Park Hotel in downtown Rochester for The Social Event of the Year on Saturday, Feb. 21. The Golden Grizzlies will have former Red Wing and NHL Hall of Famer Chris Chelios as the keynote speaker, and a special appearance by Michigan Sports Hall of Famer (MSHOF) and Lions pro bowler Herman Moore.

"This will be the first time the athletic department is hosting this type of an event and we are looking forward to connecting with the surrounding communities," said Director of Athletics Jeff Konya. "We were able to secure Chris Chelios as our keynote speaker and are excited about having Chris for this special night. I also want to thank Herman Moore for his support and appearance. The early feedback from our constituents has been tremendous."

Tickets can be purchased now for $125 per person, which includes hors d'oeuvres, a strolling dinner, two drink tickets and $100 credit towards bidding on auction items. The event will start at 6 p.m., with a VIP meet and greet reception available one hour prior with Chelios and Moore for $200. Each guest at the VIP reception will receive an autographed copy of Chelios' book Made in America.

Also in attendance will be famous speed painter David Santia. He has performed at several prestigious events throughout Detroit.

All proceeds for the event will provide support for Oakland's 320-plus student-athletes. Student-Athletes will be in attendance, along with coaches, staff and administration, as well as members of the cheer and dance teams.

Some of the live auction items will include membership on Oakland University's R&S Sharf and Katke-Cousins golf courses, three paintings by Santia, dinner for two with Chelios and two tickets to the 2015 NCAA Final Four in Indianapolis.

This inaugural event is sure to be the event of the year. To guarantee your spot, please contact Sue MacDonnell at 248-364-6132.
