2014 Homecoming

ROCHESTER, Mich. - After six successful homecomings in the winter, Oakland University moved Homecoming to the fall and will take place this Friday through Sunday. The Golden Grizzlies will host a volleyball tournament and a men's soccer match where a student and an alumnus can win a brand new Chrysler. For a complete list of all Homecoming events this weekend check out this detailed schedule. Admission is free to all Oakland Athletic contests this weekend.

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 17
Sweets, Treats and Grizzly Beats
â-ª After storms postponed the event last week, Sweets, Treats and Grizzly Beats is from 7-9 p.m. on the lawn by Bear Lake. It will be the first opportunity to sign up for a chance to win a car at Saturday's men's soccer game. Student​s​ can compete in contests with Oakland student-athletes including a pie eating contest, free Cool Yo frozen yogurt and listen to music.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 19
Volleyball vs. Bowling Green, 5 p.m.
â-ª Chance to enter in to win a free car at men's soccer game on Saturday
â-ª Wear the Bear Gray T-Shirt giveaway to first 100 fans

Men's soccer Alumni Game, 6 p.m.
â-ª Game to take place on the OU Soccer Field
â-ª Alumni reception at the Sharf Clubhouse after the game

Saturday, SEPT. 20
Men's Golf Elliott Cup, 8 a.m.
â-ª The men's golf team takes on the Oakland alumni at Katke-Cousins and R&S Sharf Golf Courses

Softball Black and Gold Game and Alumni Game, 10 a.m. and Noon
â-ª The Oakland softball team will face each other in the annual Black and Gold game
â-ª Following the game will be the Alumni Game at the OU Softball Field
â-ª After the Alumni Game there will be a Oakland Softball Alumni Reunion BBQ

Volleyball vs. Robert Morris, Noon
â-ª Chance to enter in to win a free car at men's soccer game

Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Alumni Swim Meet, 3 p.m.
â-ª The defending Horizon League Champions will take on the Oakland swimming and diving alumni at the OU Aquatic Center

Homecoming BBQ and Tailgate, 2:30-4:30 p.m.
â-ª Free food and drinks at the parking structure over looking the OU Soccer Field
â-ª Final opportunity to enter for a chance win a free car at men's soccer game
â-ª Women's basketball drawing for trip to Florida â-ª Detroit Piston's Drumline will lead the fans from the BBQ into the game

Men's Soccer vs. Incarnate Word, 5 p.m.
â-ª The Homecoming Game features the Golden Grizzlies versus the Cardinals at the OU Soccer Field
â-ª An opportunity for one student and one alumni to win a car

Volleyball vs. UC-Irvine, 7:30 p.m.
â-ª The final match of the Golden Grizzlies Invitational
â-ª Alumni night inside the Athletics Center O'rena with an alumni reception after the match

SUNDAY, SEPT. 21
Men's Golf Elliott Cup, 9:30 a.m.
â-ª The men's golf team takes on the Oakland alumni at Katke-Cousins and R&S Sharf Golf Courses

Golden Grizzlies Homecoming Fun Run, 9:30 a.m.
â-ª Join fellow runners in this 4K run (2.5 miles) around the Oakland campus; all ages welcome. Awards ceremony immediately following the race in the O'rena. Forms may be picked up in the Athletic Center O'rena.

Softball vs. OCC and UM-Dearborn, Noon
â-ª The Golden Grizzlies ​open the fall season against Oakland Community College at noon and versus UM-Dearborn at 2 p.m.

Baseball Alumni Game and Reception, 1:30 p.m.
â-ª Oakland will face off against ​its alumni at with a reception to be held after the game.

â-ª The Golden Grizzlies have a pair of matches this week starting at Kent State on Friday, Sept. 19 at 4 p.m. and then at Saint Francis (PA) on Sunday beginning at noon.
