Official League Release
INDIANAPOLIS - Honoring student-athletes for their success both in competition and in the classroom, the Horizon League announced its 2013 Fall Academic All-League Teams on Thursday. A total of 53 student-athletes from five fall sports were honored in balloting by the League's faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors.
Oakland had five selections including men's soccer players Nick Kristock and Joey Tinnion, women's soccer members Kyla Kellermann and Serena San Cartier and volleyball player Taylor Humm. To be eligible for Academic All-Horizon League consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale) and have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits.

Nick Kristock | SR | 3.73 | Business Kristock, a senior defender, was named the winner of the 2013 Senior CLASS award. The award is given annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in Division I men's soccer who has have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - classroom, community, character and competition. An all-league second team selection, Kristock was the anchor for the Oakland back line during the season allowing nine goals in league play for a 1.29 goals per game average and only 11.6 shots per game. Kristock is a business administration major and holds a 3.73 grade-point average (GPA). |
Joey Tinnion | JR | 3.64 | History with Secondary Education Tinnion, a junior forward, was selected to the Capital One Academic All-District 5 team after leading the Golden Grizzlies in points (18), goals (7) and assists (4) while holding a 3.66 GPA as a history with secondary education major. He also was named to the College Soccer News and Top Drawer Soccer National Teams of the Week after scoring four goals in three matches including game-winners against Detroit and Wright State. |

Kyla Kellermann | JR | 3.63 | Psychology Kellermann had a strong season in 2013, leading Oakland in scoring with 20 points on eight goals and four assists. A 2013 All-Tournament Team selection, Kellermann had two game-winning scores for the Golden Grizzlies last fall. Kellermann, who owns a 3.63 grade-point average in psychology, earned her second all-academic honor in as many seasons as she was a 2012 Summit League All-Academic honoree. |
Serena San Cartier | SR | 3.83 | Health Sciences San Cartier, a health sciences major with a 3.83 grade-point average, was third on the team in scoring last season with 11 points on four goals and three assists. An Oakland University Dean's List honoree all three previous academic years as a student-athlete, San Cartier opened the 2013 season with the game-winning goal and assist against Eastern Illinois Aug. 23. |
| Volleyball |
Taylor Humm | JR | 3.62 | Engineering Humm proved an excellent candidate for this award having earned a cumulative 3.62 grade-point average thus far in her career. She is an engineering major in her third year of studies. On the court, she surpassed 1,000 digs this year after adding 334 over the course of the season and now has 1,003 career digs. She had double-double performances on eight occasions in 2013 and amassed a total of 178 kills, 14 service aces and 20 blocks, all while missing five games due to injury. She was also named Oakland's Student-Athlete of the Week on Sept. 9. |
