Oakland Student-Athletes Top Summit League Winter/Spring Academic All-League Teams

ELMHURST, Ill. -Oakland University had a league-high 152 student-athletes earn a place on The Summit League Winter/Spring All-Academic Teams, when the final total was officially announced by the league office. The Golden Grizzlies topped the league in both the fall and winter/spring seasons, amassing a league-best total of 215 Scholar Athletes.

Student-athletes must have at least a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) during their season of competition and have used a semester of eligibility to earn a place on their sports' All-Academic Team.

During the winter/spring semester a total of 1,013Summit League student-athletes earned a spot on the All-Academic teams in the sports of baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, softball, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's track and field. An additional 55 OU student-athletes earned the distinction of Scholar Athlete by earning a 3.6-or-better GPA and eight Oakland student-athletes finished with all-As during the semester.

The Golden Grizzlies finished ahead of second place South Dakota State which had 148 honorees. Southern Utah was third with 113 honorees, while Western Illinois was fourth with 108 athletes recognized. UMKC had 88 and NDSU had 83 honorees followed by Oral Roberts (70), IFPW (67), IUPUI (64) and Centenary (63).
