Chad Thompson Leaves Oakland

June 17, 2011

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Chad Thompson is leaving the Oakland University Department of Athletics, announced by Director of Athletics Tracy Huth on Friday. Thompson, who served as the Coordinator of Annual Giving over the last three years, is following his wife down to Durham, N.C.

"We are truly losing a friend and a tremendous colleague," said Huth. "Chad has raised the annual giving to the athletic department over the last three years and will be missed. His wife has an opportunity to work at one of the more prestigious hospitals down at Duke University Hospital and we wish them both the best of luck."

Thompson has seen the number of annual donors to athletics more than double since his arrival in 2008. He helped develop major donations and capital campaigns for the development office and launched the Varsity O program for alumni athletes. Donations reached an all-time high in 2011, and his recent work on the President's Invitational Golf Outing had over 100 golfers in which the proceeds benefited the university as well as the Department of Athletics.

"Oakland athletics is a truly special place from the coaches and staff to the donors and alumni," said Thompson. "It has been an amazing three years and I wish OU all of the success in the world. I feel very fortunate to have worked with such outstanding people."
