ROCHESTER, Mich. - As a part of the Oakland University Department of Athletics' continuous community outreach efforts, the Grizz recently took part in Walden Middle School's Dragon Days assembly and the school's own version of the Olympic Opening Ceremonies, serving as a torch bearer.

Other local schools are getting involved in Oakland athletics as well. On Jan. 14, the Lake Orion Middle School Combined Ensemble, led by Beth Simms and Cheryl Bongirono, peformed the National Anthem at the men's basketball game against UMKC.
