Each month Oakland University student-athletes spend time with community members and children to try and lend a hand. OUgrizzlies.com will highlight these deeds over the course of the 2010-11 Academic Calendar.

Ebeling Elementary Fun Day
* Ebeling Elementary School (Macomb)
* Friday, October 1
* OU Athletic Teams including: Women's Basketball, Swimming & Diving, Men's Basketball, Track & Cross Country, Cheer, Dance, and Softball participated at the Ebeling Fun Day providing over 700 youth participants with training skills, sport drills, and all-around fun and games throughout the day.

Delta Kelly Fun Run
* Delta Kelly Elementary School (Rochester)
* Friday, October 8
* The OU Cheer Team, Dance Team and Clawzz partnered with Delta Kelly Elementary for the second consecutive year for the Delta Kelly Fun Run. The teams and Clawzz cheered on the 615 youth participants and assisted with providing all-around fun and games throughout the day.

Dig Pink
* OU Volleyball vs. Centenary
* Friday, October 8
* Total raised: $1,300
* All event proceeds went to benefit the Side out Foundation: Fighting Breast Cancer Through the Sport of Volleyball * The Side Out Foundation wants to make a statement by holding hundreds, potentially thousands, of featured High School and College matches across the country to help educate and raise funds to eradicate this terrible disease. Proceeds will go towards doing something significant and identifiable in the fight against Breast Cancer. For more information about this cause please visit: side-out.org

Great Michigan Race
* OU Cheer and Dance Teams
* Sunday, October 17
* OU Cheer and Dance Teams performed in Downtown Rochester at the event Family Fun & Fan Park. All proceeds from the event went to benefit Special Olympics Michigan. For more information and event pictures please view: greatmichiganrace.com/

Reuse-A-Shoe (Cross Country)
* The drive was held from September 13th until October 14th
* Total shoes collected: 180
* Each layer of athletic shoes are recycled in to different athletic surfaces. For instance, the outsole or the rubber is recycled into track surfaces or the midsole, the foam is recycled into tennis courts.

Swim for the Cure
* OU vs. Wayne State- Saturday, October 30
* In support of breast cancer awareness and research. All proceeds to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
* Featured a bake sale, random drawing, and distribution of pink ribbons and wristbands for donations contributed.
* Total raised: $2,794.32

Grizz Reading Club
* October 2010-February 2011
* Youth community members are encouraged to Make a Slam Dunk with Reading in 2010-11
* Participants must be in 1st-6th grade.
* Program tracks youth reading progress around the basketball court with a free throw (1 book), jump shot (2 books), layup (3 books), slam dunk (4 books).
* There is no limit on participation. Participants may complete program up to eight times to win
* up to 16 free tickets and additional prizes.
* Youth completing the program, earn two (2) free general admission tickets for the winner and one family member to a select program game at the O'Rena. Must choose from free ticket dates.

Grizz Kidz Club
* The Grizz Kidz Club kicked off on Saturday, October 30 with the opportunity for all members to meet and greet with OU Men's Basketball Players and members of the OU Cheer and Dance Teams. This exciting club offers youth community members the opportunity to stay active in sports and to participate in a number of exciting free member events: post-game shoot-arounds, basketball clinics with OU players, locker room tours, question and answer sessions, autograph sessions
* For $25 your child will receive lots of giveaways and opportunities during Oakland University's Basketball season.
