ROCHESTER, Mich. - Both Oakland University's men's and women's basketball teams will be keeping a close eye on selection shows for postseason play.
Coach Greg Kampe's Golden Grizzlies men's team advanced to the championship game of The Summit League tournament, falling on a last-second shot. At 22-12, The OU men are not expected to garner consideration for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, however, OU has been projected as a bubble team for the National Invitation Tournament (NIT). Should Oakland not be selected for the NIT field, the Golden Grizzlies have been invited to the inaugural College Insider tournament field.
The postseason scenario for the women is definite as well. Coach Beckie Francis' Golden Grizzlies women's team set a new Division I standard for wins, posting a 26-6 record and advancing to the Summit League tournament championship game. While the Golden Grizzlies are considered a longshot for the NCAA tournament, OU is the recipient of The Summit League's automatic bid to the Women's NIT.
The men's NCAA Tournament and NIT fields will be announced Sunday, with the College Insider field announced shortly after. The women's NCAA Tournament and NIT fields will be announced Monday. Check back to ougrizzlies.com for regular updates on the Golden Grizzlies' postseason schedule.
