ROCHESTER, Mich. - Several Oakland University men's and women's basketball coaches, including head coaches Greg Kampe and Beckie Francis, traded basketball shoes for grilling aprons last night when they helped cook meals at bd's Mongolian Barbeque last night to help raise money for Coaches vs. Cancer. The event raised nearly $1,000.
Joining Kampe and Francis behind the grill were men's associate head coach Jeff Tungate, women's associate head coach Eric Stephan and women's assistant coaches Katie Wolfe and Jenny Roulier.
Coaches vs. Cancer is a program founded by the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. It empowers schools and communities to join the fight against cancer by participating in a variety national and local events. Through the program, basketball coaches lead fundraising and advocacy efforts that provide individuals a chance to give something back by rallying around an important cause. Coaches vs. Cancer promotes healthy living and cancer prevention and helps create a world where cancer is no longer a threat.
