Oakland Hosts Festival of Sport This Weekend

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland University Department of Athletics will host the Festival of Sport this weekend, as volleyball, women's basketball, men's basketball, and The Summit League Men's Soccer Championship will all take place on campus this weekend.

Free hot dogs and beverage will be provided to the first 200 fans at Friday's men's soccer, volleyball, and women's basketball games.

The volleyball team will play its final two regular-season games this weekend, hoping to clinch a spot in the upcoming Summit League championship in Fargo, N.D. OU will host Southern Utah on Friday at 7 p.m., and then will host UMKC for Senior Day on Saturday at 4 p.m.

The OU women's basketball team will open the 2009-10 regular season on Friday, hosting the University of Detroit in a 2 p.m. game at the O'Rena. Tickets are buy one, get one free, as OU looks to break an attendance record as part of the NCAA Women's Pack The House Challenge and Women & Girls in Sports Day.

The OU men's basketball team opens its season on Saturday, playing a 7 p.m. game against Eastern Michigan in the O'Rena. Saturday night will mark the first Theme Night of the season, as OU hosts 80s night, and the Grizz Kidz Club Kickoff.

The OU men's soccer team will look to claim the 2009 Summit League Men's Soccer championship this weekend on the OU Soccer Field. Oakland will open play on Friday at 11 a.m., hosting UMKC in a semifinal match while Western Illinois and IUPUI will square off in the other quarterfinal at 2 p.m. The championship game will be played at noon on Sunday.
