ROCHESTER, Mich. - With temperatures falling to freezing conditions, there is no worse time to go hungry. Which is why Oakland University, along with the rest of the schools in The Summit League, will be teaming up to fight hunger in the 2009 Summit League Food Fight food drive, which will take place from Saturday, Jan. 10 through Saturday, Jan. 24, as part on an initiative by the Summit League Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for a league-wide community service project.

All fans are encouraged to help the Golden Grizzlies fight hunger by bringing canned goods or monetary donations to the O'Rena during this two-week period. The Summit League school that raises the most amount of food, measured in pounds, will receive the 2009 Food Fight trophy, and more importantly, help families in need.
