ROCHESTER, Mich. - The 2008-09 Grizz Gang Jumpin??? Jamboree sponsored by the OU Spirit Squad, Student Congress, and the University Housing and Athletics Departments was a great success on Thursday, Sept. 4. The Jamboree celebrated the kickoff of the 2008-09 Grizz Gang and was geared toward all OU students interested in supporting OU Athletics. The event served as a great opportunity to showcase the OU coaches and athletes as well as athletics and campus administration members to the OU student population. A record number of over 800 students participated in the event and are now members of the Grizz Gang student organization and the new Grizz Gang Passport Program. All in attendance enjoyed the fun, which included warming up their pitching arms and soaking athletics and university administrators in the dunk tank, taking their best shot at mini-hoops basketball, sinking bags in the Golden Grizzlies bean bag toss, dancing the night away with the DJ, meeting and greeting with coaches and athletes, and enjoying free food and drinks provided by Kowalski and Pepsi. The women???s volleyball game against Bowling Green on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 7:00 p.m. marks the official opening of the Grizz Gang Passport Program. The game will be the first opportunity for student fans to get their passports stamped and start accumulating points to win prizes at Passport announcement dates. A special thanks to the Spirit Squad and Student Congress as well as the departments of Athletics and Housing for sponsoring this event. -30-
