ROCHESTER, Mich. - CSG, in conjunction with Oakland University today announced the school's Athletic Center will be treated with the leading-edge technology of the Sports Antimicrobial System (SAS). Oakland University becomes the first college or university in the state of Michigan to have its facilities treated with the comprehensive system that kills illness-causing microorganisms such as MRSA and continually inhibits the growth of bacteria, mold and fungi on surfaces for up to three years. "It is a credit to our administration at Oakland, from the presidential level to the athletics department level that we are taking this important step to ensure the health and safety of our students," said Oakland University Director of Sports Medicine Tom Ford. "Even though our facilities will be treated with antimicrobial spray, it won't take the place of daily hygiene. The athletes will need to continue to take care of their wounds. We are being proactive in taking this step. This should make parents more comfortable that we are doing everything possible to make it safe for their child to come to Oakland." "As a Michigan based company with a headquarters just 10 minutes from Oakland University???s campus, we are extremely proud it is the first university or college in the state to have its facilities treated with the Sports Antimicrobial System," said Craig Andrews, Chief Executive Officer, CSG. "OU should be commended for becoming the first school in the Summit League to give its athletes facilities that have been proactively treated with the nation's most comprehensive and unique antimicrobial system." Utilized by franchises throughout the National Football League, National Basketball Association and Major League Baseball, SAS is considered the most proactive approach to eliminating and inhibiting the growth of potentially harmful bacteria, mold, and fungus on any surface or fabric. A recent independent study conducted by the Comprehensive Athletic Treatment Center showed that treating surfaces and fabrics with SAS antimicrobial products can significantly reduce the spread of skin ailments when used in concert with a total hygiene program. The study also revealed that SAS antimicrobial products play a key role in reducing problematic microorganisms in athletic environments. The Sports Antimicrobial System is recognized in the sports world as the most comprehensive, long-lasting antimicrobial solution because the process is thorough and the products are innovative. Certified applicators begin the process by systematically applying a cleaner disinfectant that was formulated to work in synergy with SAS antimicrobial products. This is an integral portion of the process because it effectively kills 99.9% of germs and bacteria, including harmful microbial contaminants like MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) and staph. After properly cleaning all the surfaces tabbed for treatment, an advanced antimicrobial product called SportsAide? 1000 is sprayed throughout the facility. Just one treatment of SportsAide 1000 will inhibit the growth of bacteria, mold, and fungi on surfaces for up to three years. The advanced antimicrobial power of SportsAide 1000 is vastly superior to any other technology and thus trusted by over 1,200 high schools and pro franchises nationwide for several key reasons. The water-based antimicrobial fights a wide array of microbial growth 24/7. Most importantly, SportsAide 1000 will not create adaptive organisms or "super bugs" like MRSA. Also, it is hypoallergenic, non-sensitizing and non-irritating to human skin. Finally, it is important to note that the antimicrobial technology powering SportsAide 1000 has been proven effective through 30 years of use in high-performance settings such as surgical clean rooms. The Sports Antimicrobial System will be applied by the certified applicators from Coach's. Since 1980, Coach???s has been working with most insurance carriers and some of the largest businesses across Michigan. With certified restorers, water loss specialists and more than 50 IICRC certified technicians their staff, Coach's is one of Michigan's largest restoration and specialists in Michigan. Whether the catastrophe has occurred in a home, school, business or other organization, Coach's commitment is to mitigate the damage quickly to minimize downtime and the potential for more serious problems. -30-
