Grizzlies In The Community

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Several Oakland University men's and women's basketball players, along with staff members from the athletic department, participated in a pair of community service projects this past week. The Golden Grizzlies spent time at North Hill Elementary School this past Monday for Field Day, while others participated in an event at Cheyenne Elementary School.

Seniors Ricky Bieszki, Derick Nelson and Dan Waterstradt, along with junior Johnathon Jones assisted at North Hill Elementary School's Field Day last Monday, June 2. The athletes interacted with the students over the course of the day. North Hill is where Oakland spends time with its reading program.

On Friday night, May 30, the senior women's basketball player Rachel Bryer, along with men's players Will Hudson and Tim Williams helped lead basketball clinics for elementary aged kids, which had over 250, along with 120 parents. After running dribbling skills, team competitions and relays, the Grizzlies were encouraged to throw some dunks down for the students and proceeded to do so.
