Beers has called OU games in the O???Rena for the past four seasons. ROCHESTER, Mich. ???C Kevin Beers, who has been the public address announcer for Oakland University men???s basketball games since 2005, has been named as the new PA person for the Detroit Shock, announced the Palace Sports and Entertainment (PS&E), Inc., on Friday. Beers, a high school teacher at Waterford Mott, will make his Shock debut on Monday, May 17, in the opener versus the Houston Comets.
???I couldn't be more excited to be a part of the Detroit Shock games and I can't tell you how much I enjoy calling OU games,??? said Beers. ???Both Oakland University and Palace Sports & Entertainment are first-class organizations that work incredibly hard to make events special for fans. I feel truly blessed to be a small part of it all and look forward to the coming seasons.???
A native of Rochester Hills, Beers will continue to work OU basketball games, with the Shock???s regular season ending in September. Along with the men, Beers began to announce women???s basketball games at Oakland for the 2007-08 season.
Along with his duties with the Shock and Oakland, Beers continues to help out at Waterford Mott football and basketball games and has been doing so for the last eight years.
