Rochester, Mich. (Apr. 19, 2007) ???C Today marked the final visit by Oakland University student-athletes to the Detroit Country Day School in a year-long reading project that involved 3rd, 4th and 5th graders at the school. The OUR (Oakland University Reading) project involves Golden Grizzly student-athletes taking time to visit the school and read to the students. Taking advantage of the good weather toady, all of the students gathered on the playground at Country Day for a couple of hours of fun and sportsmanship outside. Over the course of the project, Oakland student-athletes read books that illustrated positive character traits that contribute to the overall theme of sportsmanship. They then lead a discussion about the book and issues surrounding the particular trait. The student-athletes also took part in question and answer sessions on what it is like to be a student-athlete at Oakland as well as participate in other classroom projects.
