ROCHESTER, Mich. ???C The Oakland University Athletic Department, along with its student-athletes from all 18 intercollegiate sports, spent time volunteering at the All Saints Church in Pontiac and raised $1,200 for The Lighthouse of Pontiac to purchase items that were needed for families in the community for the Holidays.

???Not only do our student-athletes do a nice job in their participation in athletics and academics, but work very hard in the community,??? said athletics director Tracy Huth. ???We cannot state enough how proud we as an athletic department are of these young student-athletes. Their ability to balance academics, athletics and community involvement is astounding.???

Along with raising money, the OU Athletic Department spent time at All Saints Church organizing gifts to be handed out to families, along with packaging them into boxes for delivery. Time was also sent at The Lighthouse packaging stocked food in the pantry for underprivileged families.

The money raised was used to purchase items such as socks, underwear, t-shirts, boots (for men, women and children), sheets, comforters, vacuums, bikes and educational games and books.
