ROCHESTER, Mich. ???C The Oakland University Athletics Department announced today that Scott MacDonald has been named its new director of athletics media relations. MacDonald, who received a Master???s degree in Public Administration from Oakland, comes to OU from Georgia Tech, where he served as assistant sports information director for four years.

???Scott???s background and obvious passion for Oakland University athletics made him an obvious choice for this position,??? said Tracy Huth, interim athletic director. ???He has extensive experience at outstanding institutions in a variety of college sports, and we look forward to having him as a key part of our team as we get set to begin another successful Golden Grizzlies basketball season.???

MacDonald grew up in Bloomfield Hills and was a four-year letter winner in baseball at Henry Ford Community College and St. Andrews Presbyterian College. He spent three years as a graduate assistant in Oakland???s sports information office before serving as an intern at the University of North Carolina.

During his baseball career, MacDonald garnered all-league and all-region honors and finished with eight or more wins on the hill in two consecutive seasons (1996, '97). He was named Pitcher of the Year while at St. Andrews after the '97 baseball season after finishing in the top 20 in the nation in strikeouts and earned run average. He also lettered for two seasons in golf at St. Andrews. MacDonald received his bachelor's degree in physical education and sport in '99.
