(Jan. 25, 2007) ???C Oakland University had a total of 53 student-athletes named to the fall 2006 Mid-Continent Academic All-Conference team it was announced by the league office today. To be selected for the team, a student-athlete must achieve a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average and be a letterwinner in the sport for which he/she is nominated. Oakland???s 53 selections is the third-highest number in the eight-team league, trailing Valparaiso (59) and Western Illinois (58). Oakland???s women???s soccer team contributed the most student-athletes to the list for OU with 16 squad members gaining recognition, while the men???s soccer and women???s cross country squads were close behind with 10 each. The Golden Grizzly men???s cross country team contributed nine honorees, while the volleyball team placed eight on the list.
