Rochester, Mich. (Jan. 10, 2007) - Fresh from their stunning appearance in the 2006 World Series, a contingent of Detroit Tigers players and coaches will visit Oakland University on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 3 p.m. as part of the team???s annual winter promotional caravan. Detroit Tiger rally towels will be given away to the first 250 people through the doors. Tigers players scheduled to visit OU???s campus that day will be Gary Sheffield, Magglio Ordonez, Curtis Granderson, Jeremy Bonderman, Nate Robertson, Kenny Rogers, Carlos Guillen and Brandon Inge, plus Tigers coaches Jeff Jones and Andy van Slyke. The event is free and open to the public. The event will take place in the O???Rena. Doors will open at 2:45 p.m. Golden Grizzlies Men???s Basketball Coach
Greg Kampe will host the first portion of the program, which will feature prizes, music and ticket giveaways. OU???s dance team, cheer team and pep band will all perform at the event. Mario Impemba and Rod Allen, the voices of the Detroit Tigers on Fox Sports Net, will emcee the second half of the event, during which Tigers players will be introduced and will speak to the crowd. Time permitting, there will also be an opportunity for a brief question-and-answer period.
