Elmhurst, Ill. (June 30, 2006) ???C Oakland University had a total of 68 student-athletes named to the 2006 Mid-Continent Commissioners List of Academic Excellence the league office announced today. OU???s 68 honorees are the third-most among league members. To be selected for the team, a student-athlete must achieve a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average, have a sophomore academic standing and be a letterwinner in the sport for which he/she is nominated. True freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible for the award. Oakland???s women???s swimming and diving team contributed the most student-athletes to the list for OU with 11 honorees. OU???s baseball team had six names on the list to lead the Golden Grizzly men???s squads. The number of honorees for the other Golden Grizzly teams are: men???s basketball (1), women???s basketball (5), men???s golf (5), women???s golf (6), men???s soccer (5), women???s soccer (9), softball (6), men???s swimming and diving (3), women???s tennis (3), men???s cross country/track (2), women???s cross country/track (4) and volleyball (3).
