Elmhurst, Ill. (June 22, 2006) ???C Oakland University had a total of 111 student-athletes named to the winter/spring 2006 Mid-Continent Academic All-Conference team the league office announced today. OU???s 111 honorees are the most of any school in the Mid-Con, edging out Valparaiso and Western Illinois which had 108 and 103 respectively. To be selected for the team, a student-athlete must achieve a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average and be a letterwinner in the sport for which he/she is nominated. Oakland???s baseball and men???s track and field teams contributed the most student-athletes to the list for OU, with 16 from each squad gaining recognition. OU???s women???s swimming and diving team had 15 names on the list, while the softball team added 14. The women???s track and field and women???s basketball teams also had 10 or more names on the list with 12 and 10 respectively. The number of honorees for the other Golden Grizzly teams from the winter and spring seasons are: women???s golf (9), men???s swimming and diving (6), men???s golf (5), women???s tennis (5) and men???s basketball (3).
