Rochester, Mich. (Apr. 18, 2006) ???C Oakland University???s Athletics Department has announced it will host a Day of Champions celebration on Thursday, April 20. The event will recognize both academic and athletic achievements by Golden Grizzly student-athletes over the past year. Oakland???s Hollie Lepley Senior Scholar Athlete Awards will also be announced at the event. The award recognizes the top senior scholar athletes for overall excellence in academic achievement, athletic achievement and service activities. It is named in honor of the founder of Oakland University athletics, Hollie Lepley, and exemplifies his commitment to education, human service and his quality of leadership and personal character. The event will be held in the Oakland Center Banquet Room from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Oakland faculty and staff is invited to attend; food and refreshments will be served.
