Rochester, Mich. (Feb. 6, 2006) ???C Oakland University???s Athletics Department has announced the recipients of the Golden Grizzlies Excellence in Academics awards for the Fall 2005 semester. Each term during the academic year the department recognizes those student-athletes that have excelled academically. Student-athletes who meet the criteria of a minimum 3.0 GPA with a minimum of 12 credit hours taken are named to the list. For the Fall 2005 term a total of 172 student-athletes representing all 16 varsity teams attained the Golden Grizzlies Excellence in Academics honor. Nicole Piggott (Pewamo, Mich.; Undecided) of the basketball team and sophomore
Katie O???Donnell (Troy, Mich.; Undecided) of the swimming and diving team, all of whom attained perfect 4.0 GPAs. For the men top honors went to junior
John Van Portfleet (Grand Rapids, Mich.; History) of the swimming and diving team, who tallied a GPA of 3.98. In addition, junior

Chris Fecek (Rochester Hills, Mich.; Biology/Cross Country), sophomore
Sarah Brettrager (Palmer, Alaska; Medical Lab Sciences/Swimming & Diving), freshman
Jessica Pike (Clawson, Mich.; Wellness & Health Promotion/Basketball), and freshman
