April Kidd (Grand Rapids, Mich.) hit a jumper. FSU scored the next six points with a layup by Shante Williams and a pair of jumpers by Alicia Gladden to go up 6-2 with 16:47 left in the first half. Reising drained the first of her threes at 15:03 to bring Oakland within one 8-7. After a bucket by Gladden regained the three-point margin for the Seminoles, Pike hit a jumper to again draw within one 10-9. Florida State put together an 8-0 run fueled by four points from Britany Miller to go up 18-9 at 11:57, its largest lead of the game. OU began to chip away with a three-pointer from Piggott and a layup from Reising to slice the FSU advantage to four 18-14. The Seminoles regained a seven-point advantage 24-17 after a series of free throws, plus a layup by Miller at 7:52. Oakland went on an 8-0 run to recapture the lead for the first time since the opening minute of the game. Junior

Melissa Jeltema (Grand Rapids, Mich.). Piggott sank a pair of field goals to cap the run and gain the 25-24 lead with 6:07 remaining in the first. FSU nailed a pair of buckets to go ahead by three 28-25 at 4:52, but Reising uncorked another three-pointer to knot things up 28-28. She drained another three at 2:49 to put the Golden Grizzlies ahead once again 31-28. Oakland registered five of the last seven points of the half as Reising hit another three and Piggott sank a pair of free throws to give OU the 36-30 advantage going into the locker room. Although Florida State held a slight 40.0 to 39.4 edge in first half shooting percentage, Oakland held a whopping 46.2 to 0.00 advantage in shots from three point range. Both teams were perfect from the line, with Oakland converting four of four and the Seminoles successful six of six opportunities. Oakland opened the second half a bit tight, missing a series of four shots in their first possession and allowing FSU to score the first six points of the half, tying the game 36-36. But the Golden Grizzlies recovered as Piggott nailed a jumper and Kidd forced a turnover which Baker converted to go up 40-36 at 17:26. FSU tied the game once again 42-42 with a layup from Miller at 13:42, but Piggott answered on OU???s next trip up the floor to go ahead 44-42. Charlese Greer (Pontiac, Mich.) made a layup to cap the run and give OU a 50-44 edge at 11:40. This time it would be the Seminoles scoring the next six points with Mara Freshour sinking two free throws and Nikki Anthony and Gladden each sending up layups to knot the game once again 50-50. Baker hit a jumper to regain the lead for the Golden Grizzlies 52-50 at 9:58, but it would be the last time OU held the advantage as the Seminoles kept pressing. Davis-Cain potted FSU???s only three of the game to gain the 53-52 edge for the Seminoles at 9:44. Gladden and Pike traded buckets as did Miller and Baker to keep the Seminoles on top by just one 57-56 with 7:38 left in the game. Florida State twice pulled ahead by five and Reising answered with a three each time to bring OU back within two, the latter of which was 64-62 at 4:47. The Seminoles gained their largest lead of the second half at 3:02 when Gladden???s layup gave FSU the six-point advantage 69-63. Pike traded buckets with Miller twice before nailing a pair of free throws to cut the Seminole advantage to four 73-69 with just 24 seconds remaining. FSU???s Williams made a free throw to go up 74-69 with 14 seconds left on the clock. Oakland retained possession as the clock wound down, but was unable to draw any closer as it missed a couple of shots and time expired with the 74-69 final in favor of FSU. Florida State outshot the Golden Grizzlies 49.2 percent to 41.9 percent for the game, but Oakland held a decisive advantage from three point range (34.8 percent to 16.7 percent) and the line (90.0 percent to 76.5 percent). FSU held a slight edge in points off turnovers (16-13), but Oakland???s bench outperformed that of the Seminoles (33-12). The Golden Grizzlies return to action Wednesday when they travel to Ypsilanti to square off against Eastern Michigan at 7:00 p.m.
