(Mar. 24, 2005) ???C Oakland???s men???s soccer and women???s basketball teams are leading the standings for the PAWS Top Team award that is presented to the team that earns the most points based on community service, personal development, athletics, career development and academic excellence. OU???s men???s soccer squad leads the men???s standings with 244 points, while women???s basketball leads on the women???s side with 360 points. Created as a tool to get student-athletes more involved in the programming of the five CHAMPS components, teams earn points based on the percentage of participation for each event that is sponsored through the PAWS program (Providing Athletes With lifeSkills). Squads can also earn points from events sponsored outside the PAWS program if the Student-Athlete Advisory Council approves the event.
