Rochester, Mich. (Oct. 19, 2005) ???C Oakland University???s athletic department???s administrative staff grew by a pair today when interim Athletics Director Greg Kampe announced Simon Dover and Jim Norton as the newest members of the department???s staff. Dover will take over as Assistant AD for Finance and Administration, with Norton assuming duties as Associate AD for External Operations. Dover began his duties on October 10, with Norton joining the staff on October 17. Dover is no stranger to the OU athletics family, joining the department in 1998 as its business manager and spending seven years with Oakland. He was named an assistant AD in 2000 and was responsible for the athletic department???s budget as well as the ticket office operations. He left his position with the Golden Grizzlies in July to work on the staff at the Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Norton comes to Oakland from the staff at Indiana State University where he served as Associate AD for External Operations. In his position at ISU he supervised all external relations for the Sycamores, including marketing, fundraising, media relations and ticket sales. Norton was with the Sycamore staff for the past seven years, joining the department as Director of Athletics Development before getting promoted to his Associate AD position in 2002. Prior to Indiana State, Norton spent four years at Central Michigan University where he spent two years as an Athletic Development Officer and two as Assistant Director of Admissions.
