Oakland Lands 29 Student-Athletes on Academic All-Conference List

Elmhurst, Ill. (Jan. 21, 2005) ???C Oakland University had a total of 29 student-athletes named to the fall 2004 Mid-Continent Academic All-Conference team it was announced by the league office today. To be selected for the team, a student-athlete must achieve a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average, be a sophomore or higher in academic standing and compete in the sport for which he/she is nominated. Oakland???s 29 selections to the team were the third most in the nine-team league, trailing Valparaiso with 42 and Centenary with 30 recipients. Oakland???s men???s soccer team contributed the most student-athletes to the list for OU with 10 squad members gaining recognition, which ties for the second most of any team in the conference. The Golden Grizzly women???s soccer team was next with eight honorees, while the volleyball team had five on the list. Oakland???s men???s and women???s cross country teams each placed three on the squad. Oakland???s Fall Academic All-Conference Recipients
