Elmhurst, Ill. (June 17, 2004) ???C Oakland University had a total of 55 student-athletes named to the winter/spring 2003-04 Mid-Continent Academic All-Conference team it was announced by the conference today. To be selected for the team a student-athlete must achieve a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average, be a sophomore or higher academic standing and compete in the sport for which he/she is nominated. Oakland???s 55 selections to the team were the second most in the nine team league. Oakland???s women???s swimming and diving team, the Mid-Con and NIC champions, contributed the most student-athletes to the list, with 14 squad members gaining recognition, the third most of any team in the conference. The Golden Grizzly baseball and women???s basketball teams each had nine honorees, while the men???s golf team had six on the team. OU???s men???s swimming and diving team had five members named to the squad, with women???s golf and women???s tennis contributing four each. Oakland???s men???s basketball and softball teams placed two apiece on the squad.
