Oakland Names David McAuliffe to Athletic Training Staff

Rochester, Mich. (Oct. 18, 2004) ???C Oakland University???s athletics department added a new staff member to its ranks when it named David McAuliffe as the department???s assistant athletics trainer. He will assist Oakland???s head athletics trainer, Tom Ford, with all aspects of running an Oakland athletic training room that serves the school???s 14 sports. McAuliffe comes to Oakland from Stanford University where he was a graduate assistant trainer for the past two years. With the Cardinal he served as the trainer for several of the teams as well as helping to maintain medical records for the program. He also helped organize NCAA tournament medical coverage and assisted with writing procedural protocol. Prior to working with the Stanford program, McAuliffe served as an athletic training intern with the Milwaukee Bucks from 2001-02 and worked as a student assistant in the athletic training program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from 1999-02. McAuliffe graduated with a BS in kinesiology in 2002 from Wisconsin-Milwaukee and will have a MA in athletic training from San Jose State pending his thesis defense. He is certified as an athletic trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association and as a strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
