Northville, Mich. ???C Oakland???s cross country teams turned in some strong times for a second straight week, highlighted by the one-two finish of Kristie Kieffer (Sterling Heights, Mich.) and Melissa Nasers (Battle Creek, Mich.) in the women???s race, at the Running Fit Detroit Titan Cross Country Invitational. It was the second consecutive weekend that an OU runner has won a meet on the women???s side. The women???s team finished third overall with 78 points, while Oakland???s men were fourth with 91. Kieffer blazed through the hilly, 5K course at Cass Benton Park in 18:03, beating Nasers to the line by 16 seconds. Oakland???s final three scoring runners all finished under the 21-minute mark and spaced just 18 seconds apart. Sarah Kane (Sterling Heights, Mich.) was the No. 3 finisher for OU and 28th overall, covering the course in 20:22. Rounding out the scoring for the Golden Grizzlies was Marissa Montgomery (Livonia, Mich.), whose 20:29 was good for 30th, and Kara Coraci (Macomb, Mich.) who finished 32nd in 20:40. On the men???s side, Adam Frezza (Oxford, Mich.) and Jason Bruscha (Sterling Heights, Mich.) both finished in the top-10, with Frezza turning in a 20:06 over the four-mile course to finish third, while Bruscha ran a 20:10 to claim sixth. Brandon Fisk (Shelby Township, Mich.) was the next OU runner across the finish line, turning in a time of 21:18 to claim the 28th overall spot. Completing the scoring for the Golden Grizzlies were Luke Williams (Wayland, Mich.) who had a 21:32 to finish 35th and John Cook???s (St. Clair, Mich.) 38th-place finish in 21:37. Both teams will be in action again next Saturday, when they run at the Mel Brodt Invitational in Bowling Green, Ohio.
