Rochester, Mich. Senior phenom swimmer
Danielle Ward (Brighton, Mich.) held her own at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships over the weekend at the University of Auburn. Ward swam both the 100 and 200 freestyle events against more than 70 competitors. Ward swam in the 200 free event on Friday and finished the race with a time of 1:50.88. That time placed Ward 54th in a field of 58. In the 100 freestyle, Ward finished in the top half of the field hitting the wall at 50.44 seconds. In a race that saw 72 competitors swim, Ward's time ranked her 35th in the meet. Five more swimmers will be on their way to compete in the NCAA Championships this week at the University of Texas at Austin. Freshmen Scott Dickens (Ancaster, Ont.) and Eric Lynn (Plymouth, Mich.) will join sophomore Chris Sullivan (Rockfored, Mich.), junior Sean Broadbent (Windsor, Ont.) and senior Doug Drazin (West Bloomfield, Mich.) in their quest for top ten finishes at the 2003 Men's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
