Ward picks up her second Athlete of the Week honor while Sullivan garners his fourth in just five weeks. Ward earns Mid-Con Athlete of the Week honors after posting a Mid-Con season-best time in the 200 freestyle against Michigan State in a 131-111 dual meet loss. Ward finished the 200 free in 1:52.58, bettering her previous league-best time by more than a half-second. Ward also won the 500 free (5:05.09), and swam the lead leg on the 400 free relay team that set a Mid-Con season-best time of 3:28.25. Sullivan repeats as the Mid-Con Athlete of the Week after provisionally qualifying for the NCAAs in the 100 freestyle in a dual meet win over Michigan State (124.5-117.5). He touched the wall in 44.31, a personal and Mid-Con season best that is also the 14th-fastest time in the nation this season. Sullivan???s 100 free splits in the victorious 400 medley (3:22.74) and 400 free (3:03.13) relays - 44.16 and 43.47, respectively - are among the fastest in the country; both of those teams??? victories were in a Mid-Con season-best and school-record time. This accolade is Sullivan's fifth of the season. Sullivan will look to lead his team to one more dual meet victory this coming weekend against the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. The meet is the men's last dual meet of the season and will be held at the OU Aquatics Center at 2 p.m. Saturday. The men will attempt to improve on their season record that now stands at 8-5. Ward, on the other hand, will be busy training with her teammates as the team prepares for the National Independent Conference Championships that will take place at Oakland from Feb. 26-Mar. 1. The women's team will seek to defend their 2002 title alongside the men's team who will look to take their first NIC victory.
