Swimmers Line Jensen (Silkeborg, Denmark) and Chris Sullivan (Rockford, Mich.) took top honors in the Mid-Con last week earning Athletes of the Week recognition for the week ending January 28. The honor was Jensen's first of the season while Sullivan's third. Jensen has only been swimming for Oakland since January and has already made a major impact on the Grizzlies team and the Mid-Continent Conference. In last week's competition Jensen set a pool record in the 100 butterfly (57.83) to lead Oakland to a 153.5-146.5 victory over St. Bonaventure. The freshman also swam a leg in the winning 200 medley relay team against the same opponent. Line went on to capture the Mid-Con???s top spots in the 200 individual medley (2:07.50) and the 100 breaststroke (1:06.78), winning both events against Pittsburgh. She also swam a leg on the winning 200 freestyle relay team. Sullivan picks up his third Athlete of the Week accolade after his performances in the pool against St. Bonaventure and Pittsburgh. Sullivan helped his team to a 1-1 split last week, winning every event in which he competed. He led the Golden Grizzlies to a 175-119 victory over St. Bonaventure by breaking a pool record and setting a Mid-Con season best in the 100 freestyle (45.47), placing first in the 100 butterfly (51.36) and swimming a leg in both the winning 200 medley and 200 free relay. The 200 free relay time of 1:22.58 also set a Mid-Con season best and a pool record. Against Pittsburgh, Sullivan won the 50 free (20.38) and swam the first leg in Oakland???s winning 200 free relay. Both Sullivan and Jensen will join the rest of the Golden Grizzlies swimming and diving teams back in action this weekend when they host Michigan State at the OU Aquatics Center at 1 p.m.
