OU Harriers Finish Fourth and Seventh at Central Collegiates

The Oakland University men's and women's cross country both competed at the 77th Annual Central Collegiate Conference Cross Country Championship Friday, September 27. The race was held at Buhr Park in Ann Arbor. The men ran an 8K, while the women's race was a 5K. Oakland's men finished fourth out of 11 teams and the women claimed seventh out of 11. OU's men were led by sophomore Adam Frezza (Oxford/Lake Orion HS) who finished 10th overall in 25:51. Sophomore Paul Kulisek (Wonder Lake, Illinois/Woodstock HS) followed closely behind finishing in 26:10 and claiming 15th place. Sophomore John Cook (St. Clair/St. Clair HS), junior Brandon Fisk (Shelby Township/Eisenhower HS) and senior Bill Monnett (Clawson/Clawson HS) rounded off the five scorers for Oakland. Cook finished 21st running a 26:19, while Fisk ran a 26:37 (26th) and Monnett a 26:50 (33rd). Also running the 8K race for the Golden Grizzlies were senior Ryan Bissell (27:31/47th), Matt Nistor (28:03/58th), Rob Camilleri (29:03/71st) and Gabe Wordell (29:37/75th). In the women's race, sophomore Melissa Nasers (Battle Creek/Lakeview HS) led the Golden Grizzlies finishing third overall in 18:52. Sophomore Sarah Kane (Sterling Heights/Sterling Heights HS) followed in 10th place crossing the finish line in 19:32. Freshman Sarah Drouillard (Lake Orion/Lake Orion cross the finish line in 39th place in a time of 20:31. Rounding off OU's top five were freshman Kim Schultz (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion HS) and junior Andrea Sutter (Sterling Heights/Stevenson HS). Schultz finished 59th (21:05) and Sutter followed four seconds later (61st). Also running the 5K race for the OU women's cross country team were Kara Coraci (66th/21:16), Amber Nagel (67th/21:18), Julie Austin (76th/21:47) and Marissa Montgomery (84th/22:55). The OU men will next run at the Notre Dame Invitational on October 4, while the men and women will both compete at the Michigan Intercollegiates on October 11. The Michigan Intercollegiates will be run at Kensington Park.
