The Oakland University women's and men's swimming and diving teams are in first and third place respectively after the second day of the National Indpendent Conference Championships. The women stand seven points ahead of Northern Arizona with 469 points, while the men have 367 points. The NIC's will resume at 11 a.m. Saturday and conculde with the finals at 6:30 p.m. Leading the women's team was with one first place finish was Oksana Strelets as she finished first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.60. Collecting second place finishes for OU were Shelley Aurit and Tara Berringer. Aurit was second in the 100 breatstroke with a time of 1:05.29, while Berringer was second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 50.94. Collecting a second place finish for the men's squad was Tim Johnson as he finished with a NCAA 'B' standard time of 1:38.50 in the 200 freestyle.
