Oakland University will host the National Independent Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, February 28-March 2 at the OU Aquactic Center. Participating in the meet, along with the Golden Grizzlies, will be Cincinnati, Florida Atlantic (women), Hawaii (men), Northern Arizona (women), Southern Methodist (men) and Western Kentucky. SMU took first place last year on the men's side, while Cincinnati claimed first on the women's side. Thirteen athletes return to the 2002 NIC Championship to defend their titles...Cincinnati--Scott Davidson (1650 free), Ryan McNally (200 fly), Maria Oberg (200, 500, 1650 free) and Tori Livingston (400 IM); Northern Arizona--Chelsey Urban (200 back); Western Kentucky--Brandi Carey (200 IM); Oakland--Oksana Strelets (50, 100 free) and Tanya Korniyenko (100, 200 fly); Southern Methodist--Matt Weghorst (50, 100 free), Chris Epp (200 free, 200 fly), Tim Carlson (200 breast), Jakob Andersen (100, 200 back) and Brice Dumias (one and three meter diving). Prelims will begin at 11 a.m. all three days, while the finals will start at 6:30 p.m. Ticket prices for this event will be $5 for each individual session and $25 for an all-session pass.
